Freezing me inside with all the what-ifs,
Might-have-beens, and should-haves.
The icy wind of regret would knock me off my feet
If I did not firmly grasp Your hand, Father God, offering
The warmth of Your love, mercy, and forgiveness.
Hello, Orion, brightly shining in the winter night.
As time moves on, your stars aligning give my heart delight.
I still declare when seeing you that there is always hope,
For you’re prepared, you’ve set your view with all encompassed scope.
The hunter’s bow is ever ready to supply the food you need.
The warrior is always steady meeting every foe with speed.
Your eyes are focused forward to the goal with cool command,
Yet ever conscious all around the place in which you stand.
Your knees stay bent with arrow notched to move at slightest whim.
So, I am sent by God who’s watched me, called me out in Him.
To watch, to learn, to hear, to move as Holy Spirit leads—
To pray, to burn with holy love—He through me intercedes.
I still repent on bended knee, convicted when I sin.
We war against my enemy, in battles fought within.
Father meets my every need and gives me daily bread.
So, on my knees I rest indeed, submitting without dread.
Hello, Orion, brightly shining in the winter night.
As you shine on, you are reminding me of Father’s Light.
Keep running through the skies above despite the winter chill.
Your hope anew blooms while God’s love enfolds me in His will.
Life is a river richly flowing,
Freely teeming with people, nations, and happenings,
All mingled in Your Spirit’s purposes.
Past, present, future…mesh together because
Nothing limits Your hand at work.
You are our life.
You give us our very existence.
You pour through every moment, every molecule
With the power of Your love—
Sparkling with newness,
Brilliant with Your glory
Revealing every shadow of hidden darkness till it flees…
And the river flows on, full of us, brimming with You
Life is ever moving, ever changing, ever new,
Because, O LORD, of unfathomable, beyond-imaginable You!
Today I feel like sunshine
Though it’s cold and wet and gray.
Inside my soul I feel fine
Though the storms of life hold sway.
It is odd but I can stand fast
Feeling rest and grace and peace
Never minding as I sail past
Other ships and harbors’ ease.
For the way of strength in Jesus
Is to know that I am weak
To acknowledge in my stresses
That His wisdom helps me seek
Past the folly of man’s goodness
Into truth and faith and love
And to stand upon God’s promise
With His new life from above.
Today I know just who I am
Though I sometimes forget
I am a child held in His hand
And should not grasp regret.
Repenting, I receive new life—
Confess, release, advance
Through Christ whose awesome sacrifice
Gives me a second chance.
Father, make us one in Your Spirit and Your Son
That the world will know Your love is in our lives.
Remind us of Your grace; draw us all to seek Your face;
Let Your glory fill our hearts and minds and eyes.
Help us see Your light, and teach us with Your sight
To throw down every stronghold of Your foe.
By speaking what is true and focusing on You,
Your Spirit moves through us so all can know
The glory of Your name and power of the same
Will heal the sick and set the captives free.
Dear Jesus, let us speak so all will come and seek
And find Your love through all eternity.
Father, make us one in Your Spirit and Your Son.
Unite our hearts until Your work is done!
For all the silly things I do in this life—
Things that make me feel foolish or stupid—
You offer Your graceful arms
Like a mom to a small child.
You comfort me.
You remind me of
Your eternal perspective and infinite wisdom.
If I could just remember to ask You,
Maybe I wouldn’t make so many mistakes.
Still, You pick me up, love on me,
Set my feet on Your path again, and
With a disciplinary swat to my rear,
You help me remember the lesson.
…And I… I’m sure
I shall do other silly things as I grow in You,
But by Your mercy, I’ll learn each lesson
(Even if it’s more than once)
Till everything is done and
I can stand before Your throne,
Covered by Your grace,
Grown-up in Your love.
The splendor of Your holiness
Is like a newborn star,
Whose brilliance light the universe,
Whose beauty shines so far.
The glory man cannot embrace
Displays Your greatness, hides Your face.
I pray, O Lord, that I would be
Your light of hope for men
That all who come could only see
Your grace, Your love for them.
Exemplify Your mercy, Lord,
Redeeming lives with every word.
Holy Spirit, breathe new power.
Renew my passion for
Your people in this very hour.
Please, call us all toward more.
And God, please, multiply Your life
For everyone who seeks Your light.
Forsake the way of sinful men
Who beckon you to follow them
They claim to have the truth, but know
Their “truth is just another show.
With gentle and deceptive words,
They twist the real truths you have heard,
And all the while you listen, too,
Their falsehoods will imprison you.
But follow Jesus, hear Him speak.
His truth brings freedom to the weak.
His words give strength and boldness for
The battles in this holy war.
Fight with honor in His name.
Let all men know He took our shame,
So we could have eternity
With Love, Himself, to keep us free.
