Orion

Hello, Orion, brightly shining in the winter night.
As time moves on, your stars aligning give my heart delight.
I still declare when seeing you that there is always hope,
For you’re prepared, you’ve set your view with all encompassed scope.

The hunter’s bow is ever ready to supply the food you need.
The warrior is always steady meeting every foe with speed.
Your eyes are focused forward to the goal with cool command,
Yet ever conscious all around the place in which you stand.

Your knees stay bent with arrow notched to move at slightest whim.
So, I am sent by God who’s watched me, called me out in Him.
To watch, to learn, to hear, to move as Holy Spirit leads—
To pray, to burn with holy love—He through me intercedes.

I still repent on bended knee, convicted when I sin.
We war against my enemy, in battles fought within.
Father meets my every need and gives me daily bread.
So, on my knees I rest indeed, submitting without dread.

Hello, Orion, brightly shining in the winter night.
As you shine on, you are reminding me of Father’s Light.
Keep running through the skies above despite the winter chill.
Your hope anew blooms while God’s love enfolds me in His will.

The Call

Forsake the way of sinful men
Who beckon you to follow them
They claim to have the truth, but know
Their “truth is just another show.

With gentle and deceptive words,
They twist the real truths you have heard,
And all the while you listen, too,
Their falsehoods will imprison you.

But follow Jesus, hear Him speak.
His truth brings freedom to the weak.
His words give strength and boldness for
The battles in this holy war.

Fight with honor in His name.
Let all men know He took our shame,
So we could have eternity
With Love, Himself, to keep us free.

War

It’s time to take the hammer to the anvil.
It’s time to put the metal in to forge.
The fires are burning hotter than they’ve ever been,
And war’s on the horizon with a surge.

Your people, Lord, Your people need Messiah—
Who came already saving us from sin.
But now the whole world’s closing in on Israel.
We need to see You come as reigning King.

The hour is late, Lord, and Your mercy great.
When will You conquer those refusing Light—
Submission to provision through the cross,
Christ’s sacrificial death and resurrection life.

For only You, Lord, You can save Your children
From desolate destruction that will come
The end is clearly near for people watching
And only You are where our help comes from.

Most Holy God on High, I now beseech You
To send Faithful and True on His white steed
To be our righteous judge in holy war
And cover us with mercy in our need.

If I Could Write

If I could write, I’d tell of all I know,
Which isn’t much, for all I have to show.
This sense of self inside of me,
This thing that drives me to be free,
Is just a formless mass of feelings, though…

I try to write the deeper things inside.
Though most of me prefers to run and hide.
My efforts bring a war within
(It seems like all my life has been),
Yet I am fixed on letting go of pride.

If I could write, the passion in my prayer
Would be to touch the world with all its care—
To show them God’s great love for all,
So they could help break down their walls
Releasing all the anger and despair.

I try to write so people know I’m real
With caution in expressing how I feel—
So they identify with me
(With common eyes we clearly see),
And we can lay things at His feet and kneel.

If I could write, I’d risk all that I am,
To share my love, and consequence be damned
But still I struggle hard and long
To speak or sing a heartfelt song.
Sometimes I’m sure I’ll never write again.

I try to write despite this wretched doubt,
For I must write. I cannot live without
A way to speak my mind and heart—
To show I’m weak and then impart
How self laid down receives God’s grace throughout.

If I could write…
